Trails & Ales is ForeverGreen Trails’ signature social series — a relaxed, community‑driven gathering that blends great trails, great people, and great local brews. Each event brings together trail lovers, advocates, partners, and curious newcomers to share stories, swap ideas, and strengthen the movement for connected, accessible trails across Pierce County.
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer, a policy wonk, a casual walker, or someone who simply enjoys a good pint with good company, Trails & Ales offers an easy way to plug in. Expect lively conversation, updates on local trail projects, opportunities to get involved, and a welcoming space to meet the people shaping our region’s active‑transportation future.

Past Trails & Ales Events
2026
On June 13th, we gathered in Wilkeson for a special combination Trails & Ales & Tales event. We had a presentation from Foothills Rails-to-Trails Coalition, Wilkeson Historical District, Pierce County, and ForeverGreen Trails about the vision for the Foothills Trail, its importance to the local economy, two projects to extend the trail toward Mount Rainier National Park, and FGT's role in supporting these efforts. Following the presentation, we walked the Wilkeson section of the trail and guest speakers from Friends of the Carbon Canyon, Families First Coalition, and White River Partnership addressed attendees.
2025
On August 19th, we gathered to socialize and learn about the City of Puyallup's Riverwalk Trail Phase 5 project, which will fill a gap in this facility near the heart of downtown. We also covered how FGT is helping to support the project with a Trail Accelerator Program (TAP) fund drive to prepare for "grant season" in 2026. Below is a recording in case you missed it.
2023
We gathered at Acorn Brewing to learn about the City of Edgewood's exciting project to fill a gap in the Interurban Trail. The video below covers the historic electric Interurban Railroad that ran in this corridor and current plans to reestablish this Tacoma-Seattle route via trail!
At this event we kicked off a Trail Accelerator Program (TAP) fund drive for this project that exceeded our goal and leveraged a $3 million grant!
2022
In 2022, we featured the Tacoma to Puyallup Trail (T2P) — part of the SR 167 Gateway Project. WSDOT project representatives joined us to talk about this important regional project. They provided an update on the status of its phases and announced an online open house to solicit public feedback on certain design aspects. We don't have a recording of this event, but you can learn about the project on WSDOT's website. More recently, WSDOT staff updated us about this project at our 2025 Annual Meeting. Watch the video.
